Cirque du Soleil's breathtaking arena production

A grandiose atmosphere

From 17 to 20 October 2024, Cirque du Soleil's breathtaking arena production Corteo will conquer the Hallenstadion Zurich. Directed by the talented Ticino native Daniele Finzi Pasca, Corteo was first performed in Montreal in April 2005. Since then, the show has enchanted over 10 million viewers in 20 countries on 4 continents.

Corteo, which stands for parade in Italian, tells the story of a clown who imagines his own funeral as a joyous carnival celebration, watched over silently by compassionate angels. This show combines the passion of acting with the grace and power of acrobatics. The audience is transported into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity - to a mysterious place between heaven and earth.

The show illuminates the strength and fragility of the clown as well as his wisdom and kindness, thus presenting the complexity that lies within us all. The music, sometimes lyrical, sometimes playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion outwits reality.

The unique staging places the stage right in the centre of the arena, creating a special perspective. The curtains, inspired by the Eiffel Tower and partly hand-painted, create a grandiose atmosphere and emphasise the poetry of Corteo - an ambience that has yet to be seen in an arena production by Cirque du Soleil.
