A story of love, courage, and humanity

A timeless masterpiece returns to the stage

Disney The Hunchback of Notre Dame tells the moving story of the disfigured Quasimodo, who grows up high above the rooftops of Paris – hidden from the world, yet filled with longing for it. When he ventures among the people for the first time at the Festival of Fools, he faces challenges and meets the brave Esmeralda, who offers him compassion and friendship. Their encounter sparks a touching story of outsiders, love, and justice – set against the magnificent backdrop of Notre-Dame Cathedral, accompanied by breathtaking music and powerful emotions. From October 2026, the new German-language production by the Budapest Operetta Theatre will embark on its first major tour across Germany and Switzerland.

Based on Victor Hugo’s world-famous novel, the musical brings together the unforgettable Disney songs by Alan Menken, the multiple Oscar-winning composer, and the also Oscar-winning lyricist Stephen Schwartz. Powerful choruses, tender ballads, and a captivating live orchestration create a stage epic full of passion, hope, and humanity. Over 70 performers, stunning costumes, and an impressive set featuring Gothic architecture and gigantic bells transport the audience to monumental 15th-century Paris – an unforgettable live experience that will linger in memory for a long time.
